Carrot or stick.
There is an increasing move towards a tracked, digital currency. There is also a great deal of concern that a fully tracked currency will lead to a loss of privacy. How will governments motivate us to accept a fully tracked digital currency? Will governments use a stick; an emergency, to send us running for the protection a tracked currency will promise to provide, or will governments use a carrot; a monetary bonus, or perhaps the promise of lower personal taxes as a motivator? I do not know but if fully tracked currency does take hold, and you sell a record album at a garage sale, expect to remit taxes to your appropriate authority.
